Designing for Castle Rock

What a mile of elevation does to your windows

Castle Rock homes have a specific set of problems, and they change what we recommend. Here's what we're actually thinking about when we walk your rooms.

Sun at 6,200 feet is harder on fabric

Castle Rock sits about a mile above sea level, so there's less atmosphere filtering the UV that reaches your windows. Furniture, flooring, and artwork fade faster here than they would at sea level. On south- and west-facing rooms we usually steer people toward a solar screen or a fade-resistant fabric rather than whatever looked nicest in the showroom.

The big west-facing windows cut both ways

The Front Range view is the reason a lot of these homes were built the way they were — and it's also why the west side of the house is unusable from about 4pm in the summer. Dual shades, or a solar screen layered behind a decorative shade, let you keep the view without the glare and heat.

Thirty-degree swings in a single day

Colorado's daily temperature range puts real load on heating and cooling. Honeycomb shades trap air in their cells and are the most effective insulating product we sell — which is why they show up on so many Castle Rock jobs, particularly on north-facing rooms and above garages.

HOA and metro-district rules on what shows from the street

Several Castle Rock communities have covenants about the exterior appearance of window coverings — typically a required white or neutral backing on anything visible from the street. We build to those rules as a matter of course. If you're unsure what your community requires, we can usually tell you from the address.

Reviews

Thousands of happy customers, and counting

Honest quotes, a team that shows up, and work that's backed for life. Here's what Castle Rock and Denver-area homeowners say.

A+! We have used Value Blinds 3 times now over the years and every time same great service. They give you honest quotes and don't sell you stuff you don't need. I highly recommend them.
Lisa D.
Value Blinds and Shutters is a five star experience from the initial call, to the measuring appointment, to the installation. The entire team is terrific. Best prices on Hunter Douglas products. Highly recommend!
Beth B.
We had Value Blinds install beautiful shades in our living room and bedroom. Anne, Paul and Josh were an awesome team to work with — both great customer service and quality.
Barbara S.
Highly recommend! The whole team has been consistently helpful and honest. Blinds are a big investment no matter who you buy them from — it's a relief to have a company you can count on.
Jeff C.
We've had shutters in several homes over the years, but haven't had any experience as good as we did with Value Blinds and Shutters. The communication from day one was great. Very impressed with all that we worked with.

Castle Rock questions

What Castle Rock homeowners ask us

Do you charge for an in-home consultation in Castle Rock?

No. In-home consultations anywhere in Castle Rock are free, and there's no obligation to buy. A designer brings samples to your home so you can see the fabrics in your own light, measures the windows, and leaves you with a written quote.

Where is your Castle Rock showroom?

735 Park Street, Unit L, Castle Rock, CO 80109. We're open Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and weekends by appointment. It's the only Hunter Douglas Gallery showroom in Castle Rock, so you can operate the full range of products in person rather than guessing from a swatch.

How soon can someone come out?

Because our team is based in Castle Rock rather than driving down from Denver, we can usually get a designer to a Castle Rock address within a few days. Call 303-663-8120 and we'll tell you the next available slot.

Do you work in my neighborhood?

If it's in Castle Rock, yes. We've installed in The Meadows, Founders Village, Crystal Valley Ranch, Metzler Ranch, Plum Creek, Castlewood Ranch, Sapphire Pointe, Escavera, Montaine, and more. We also serve Castle Pines, Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, Parker, and the wider Denver metro.

Who actually installs the window coverings?

Our own installers, on our payroll. We don't subcontract. The same company that measured your windows is the company that hangs them, and the company you call if anything needs adjusting years later.

How long does the whole process take?

Typically four weeks from consultation to installed product. Custom Hunter Douglas orders are built to your measurements, so most of that window is manufacturing time. Rush options exist on some collections — ask your designer.
